In a message from Tom and Esther, Tom says, " I have a map of Costa Rica here in front of me.  It is the best one we've found.  Believe it or not we cut it off the back of a local cereal box! Anyway, Grecia is directly northwest of San Jose.  If you have Alajuela on your map (that's where the airport is), Alajuela is a little more than halfway between San Jose and Grecia.  Just by eyeballing my map it looks like about 20 miles between Grecia and Alajuela.  Other towns near Grecia are Poas, Naranjo, and Sarchi."
